Community Message from NLACRC – Monterey Park
January 27, 2023
Dear Community,
We are saddened by the senseless act of violence that occurred on Saturday evening in Monterey Park, a targeted horrific mass shooting that killed 10 people and injured 10 others. We have learned that authorities are also investigating another incident in neighboring Alhambra, where thankfully no shooting occurred.
Our hearts go out to the victims, their families, and the community of Monterrey Park. We are sickened that these horrendous acts of violence continue to occur. NLACRC stands with our Asian American, Native American, and Pacific Islander community, as their community is our community.
Through our commitment to Inclusion, Equity, and Diversity, we strive to build a culture that reflects our lives as members of intersecting communities, experiences, identities, and abilities. We encourage your commitment to these values and your continued support of all members of our collective community.
Together, with kindness and caring, let’s support belonging and humanity.

Estimada comunidad,
