Behavioral Health Treatment

L.A. Care covers Behavioral Health Treatment for members under 21 years of age with a recommendation from a licensed physician, surgeon or psychologist that evidence-based BHT services are medically necessary. This includes Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and similar evidence-based treatments.

Behavioral Health Services includes treatment for both mental health and substance use disorders. L.A. Care offers these services through Carelon Behavioral Health.

Managed Long-Term Care Services and Supports

L.A. Care offers Managed Long-Term Care Services and Supports in the following types of long-term care facilities or homes:

  • Skilled nursing facility services as approved by L.A. Care
  • Subacute care facility services (including adult and pediatric) as approved by L.A. Care
  • Home and Community Based services as approved by L.A. Care
  • Community Based Adult Services (CBAS)
  • In-home Supportive Services (IHSS)
  • Intermediate care facility services L.A. Care approves, including:
  • Intermediate care facility/developmentally disabled (ICF/DD),
  • Intermediate care facility/developmentally disabled-habilitative (ICF/DD-H), and
  • Intermediate care facility/developmentally disabled-nursing (ICF/DD-N)
