Jynny Retzinger was a long-time member of the North Los Angeles County Regional Center Board of Trustees. She was a parent and very active in advocating for her son as well as other served by NLACRC. Her contributions numbered many.

Jynny’s interests in the legislative system led to her founding the first NLACRC Legislative Breakfast. She had an active role in the regional center’s grass roots efforts both locally and at the state level.

She chaired the Board’s Government and Community Relations Committee (GCRC) giving vital guidance and direction on various legislative issues throughout her tenure with the Board.

We commemorate Jynny’s passion and dedicated volunteer work with this annual award presentation to other community advocates.

Purpose

To recognize a consumer, parent, or community member representing the NLACRC catchment area (San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita Valley and Antelope Valley) who has performed exceptional service on behalf of people served by NLACRC.

The purpose of this policy is to guide the board in its efforts to recognize individuals who have made a distinguishable contribution in the lives of people with developmental disabilities. The board should consider, but is not limited to, the factors listed below in determining whom to recognize. The individual’s contribution should be over a sustained period of time, made within the center’s catchment area, and have positively impacted the lives of many consumers. In addition, the individual must be held in high esteem by his/her peers. The board may choose to recognize individuals as follows:

  • Award a plaque

The highest award is a plaque, followed by a resolution, then a letter.
