Purchase of Service Policies

The Purchase of Service Policies, referred to as Service Standards, provide direction about the types of services that NLACRC may purchase for consumers. Each regional center develops its own service standard policy that is unique to the community that it serves. These standards are approved by the California Department of Developmental Services to assure that they conform with the Lanterman Act.

Furthermore, W&I Code section 4629.5(b)(5) was amended to require regional centers to post on their internet websites POS policies and any other policies, guidelines, or regional center-developed assessment tools used to determine the transportation, personal assistant, or independent or supported living service needs of a consumer.

Update to NLACRC’s Service Standards

NLACRC is pleased to announce the approval of the modified Case Finding and Public Information Service and Procedural Standard by the Department of Developmental Disabilities. This service standard was revised to include the following:

  • Headings added for the Lanterman, Early Start, and Provisional Eligibility programs to make the intake and assessment timeline information easier to find (pages 8, 9, & 10).
  • 45-day timeframe for eligibility determinations for returning applicants within 24 months with a qualifying diagnosis (see page 9).
  • Early Start Eligibility criteria, including the new 25% developmental delay threshold in the six areas of development, and the addition of fetal alcohol syndrome as an established risk condition (page 9).
  • Provisional Eligibility criteria (page 10)
