DDS Wellness and Safety Bulletin – High Blood Pressure

December 11, 2024

The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is pleased to share the latest Wellness and Safety Bulletin posted in the DDS Wellness Toolkit.  This bulletin addresses the topic of High Blood Pressure (hypertension).  High blood pressure occurs when the heart needs to work harder to pump blood, increasing pressure on the arteries.  Most people with high blood pressure do not have any symptoms.  A person can have high blood pressure for years without showing symptoms which is why it is important that the people you support have their blood pressure checked occasionally.
