Individual Program Plans Have A New Look!
December 18, 2024
We are excited to share that beginning in January 2025 regional centers across California will be using a new template for Individual Program Plans (IPPs). IPPs are written for people 3 years or older who are eligible for regional center services. Don’t worry – IPPs will still have the same important information they always have had!
What will be the same?
IPPs will continue to:
- Include important information about you, what is happening in your life, and what you want to achieve
- Include outcomes, goals, and services and supports
- Be written by your Service Coordinator after your IPP meeting
What will be different?
- Some IPP sections have different names
- Some information will be moved to different sections in the IPP to make it easier
to read
- IPPs will look the same at all regional centers
Why the change?
There was a change to the Lanterman Act, which governs regional centers. This change required the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) to create a new IPP template for all regional centers to use. The new template looks a little different but will still have all the important information about you and your families that IPPs always have. It will focus on what’s important to you!
What do you need to do?
There is nothing that you need to do! At your next IPP meeting your Service Coordinator will talk more about the new IPP look. Service Coordinators are in the process of learning about the new IPP template to make sure that they are ready in January.
